Members of the Cwm Taf Health Branch of UNITE were pleased to support and sponsor a team made up of staff from the Workforce & OD, and Finance directorates of Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Cwm Taf University Health Board, to undertake the Three Peaks national challenge.
The Three Peaks challenge is to walk to the summits of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden, the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, in a 24 hour period. The challenge also requires travelling over 450 miles by road.
The challenge was being undertaken to raise money for the charity Giving to Pink (http://givingtopink.com).
Dean Fackrell, Cwm Taf’s Unite health branch chair, tells us: ‘At a branch meeting it was decided that we, as a branch, wished to support the charity. Giving to Pink is collecting money to raise awareness of the need for a specialist breast care unit within Cwm Taf Health Board – a ‘centre of excellence’ that South East Wales can be proud of. This unit will provide a world class breast cancer service, to all the communities within our Health Board and beyond. These are the communities where the majority of our members live, and as such, will benefit from this specialist cancer unit.
‘We were proud to do our little bit to try to make this dream become a reality’
Well done to members of Unite’s Cwm Taf health branch who took part in the Three Peaks Challenge!
