Huge thanks to all WWW’s who made our Sunday 4th September walk at Cyfarthfa Castle and Taf Fechan Nature Reserve such a resounding success. Particular mention to Linda Graves for leading, Helen Jenkins, Jane Breeze, Linda Strange and Sue Toner for stewarding and marking the route.
There was an unprecedented turn out for this event for Giving To Pink (GTP) with reportedly over 100 women and children attending – as well as the local Mayor! Despite muddy, damp conditions and unforseen obstacles such as a fallen tree and flooded footbridge the walk was completed with good humour and, by all accounts, was a wonderful ‘feel-good’ morning.
An awesome £985 was raised for GTP which is one of the highest amounts raised by WWW in one single event. Set up by Clare Smart, GTP has been a fundraising campaign aiming to raise awareness of the need for a specialist breast cancer care unit within Cwm Taf Health Board. This remarkable and inspirational lady began her campaign whilst bravely fighting her own battle against breast cancer and to date has raised an incredible £150,000 since GTP’s launch in September 2014
Here are a few images of the day for you ..…
Our next walk will be Sunday 2nd November and based around Penarth area.
