My name is William Williams and currently studying maths, biology and chemistry A levels at Whitchurch high school, and I’m deputy head boy of the sixth form. I’ve always played a variety of sports but focused mainly on tennis and football. In recent years I have thoroughly enjoyed running in my spare time. My fitness has increased, and I wanted to take on a physical challenge so I thought the Cardiff Half Marathon was perfect.
Throughout the summer I have been training for this event and I hope to finish at around 1:45 hours on the day. This is my first half marathon so I am slightly nervous, however I’m excited as I know the sense of achievement I will feel after the race will be immense. As I’m hoping to study medicine I really wanted to fundraise for a great cause. During my work experience in the summer at the Royal Glamorgan hospital I noticed flyers for the charity ‘Giving to Pink’. From this I researched the GTP and now I believe strongly in this, especially as my father has such an important role to play with breast cancer care.
I also wanted to support a local Welsh fundraising group, for these reasons I was very happy to be given the opportunity to fundraise and sponsor ‘Giving to Pink’.
